So, my dear husband outstation overseas like he always used to. Kali ni ke Lae, Papua New Guinea. Transit 2 kali, KL-Singapore-Port Moresby-Lae.

The very important things I asked is always his copy of flight itinerary. Memandangkan fon adalah wajib turn off or on flight mode all the way up there, he will only inform me like, “ok nak terbang dah ni” bila dah on board and “I’ve safely landed” bila dah touch down.

KL – Singapore: 1h 25m (12.35-14.00)

Singapore – Port Moresby: 6h 35m (20.15-04.50)

Port Moresby – Lae: 45m (09.15-10.00)

Things turn other way round kat Singapore-Port Moresby apabila takde update langsung on estimated time of arrival. Takde whatsapp report from him. Bila takde whatsapp aku assume dia belum dapat connect to wifi. Bukan semua airport ada kemudahan wifi terutamanya airport-airport kecik atau negara kurang kemudahan. Act, dah penah jadi pun dia hilang dari capaianku masa fly to Brunei and Sri Lanka. So, here the use of flight itinerary. It help me to track his flight using this flight tracker apps via online. Ada banyak medium untuk track flight status. Google je. Ada yang spesifik tracker, ada jugak boleh cek tru airport website. Contoh carian ‘Air Asia Flight Status’ dsb. Unfortunately, things twisted like this..

Flight tracker apps shows they have departed but yet still flying. I like, “what?!” It should take only 6h 35m but as for now dah 14hours. Lebih memburukkan prasangka, “The flight is beyond the range of our tracking network.” Ok, dah la over hour. Fikir logic, minyak kapal terbang diisi cukup untuk seperjalanan je. Dah over hour, diluar capaian system pulak. Ok, mama is panik.

Lepas tracker apps tak membantu, aku bukak satu persatu airport website.

Website airport Port Moresby – status takde ‘landed’ mahupun ‘enroute’.

Website airport Changi, Singapore – status cuma lah departed. Itupun hours ago.

Tragic incident mula bermain-main difikiran. Tahu kan betapa besar ‘trauma flight hilang dari radar’. Tahu kan? Nauzubillahminzalik. Mama mengucap panjang. Air mata ditahan dulu. Fikir lagi. Mesti ada cara untuk trace. Mesti ada.

Last resort, aku cek balance kredit. RM28.

Dan aku pun mulakan pencarian contacts number segala yang berkaitan. Memandangkan flight suppose to touch Port Moresby airport, aku call sana dulu. Yes, Im calling papua new guinea from Malaysia. A lady front line pick up my call. “Im sorry, I don’t know.” Hell you, kalau tak tahu tanya lah yg tahu. “We cannot check the status for you.” “Then who can?” I asked back. “You can contact the airlines itself”. Ok, airport tak boleh update status of arrival and it is weird. Airport mana yang tak boleh updet departed arrival kan. Nevermind. Maybe they don’t have the akses (husnuzon katenye). Dah le tengah panik. Sebelum kau kena sembur, baik aku hang up terus. I turned to the airlines, Air Niugini.

Carian contact yg ada hanyalah Australia & Philipines. I decide to call Philipines based. Pada hemat aku philipines is nearest to M’sia according to Aussie. Aku bagi no flight. PX***. Dia mintak E-ticket booking no. “Tak boleh ke cek guna no penerbangan?” “Tak boleh. Mesti nak no ticket passanger.” Opkos lah perbualan tu in english. Apart of that diorang tahu pangako sayo je. Aku translatekan.

Alamak no ticket dlm fon yg tengah aku guna buat call tu. “Kejap, I check first and get back to you.” “You can call to Air Niugini Singapore. Since they fly from there. It is easier.” Tak. Memandangkan everything is online, kau boleh je cek kan. Kalau tak, kau takkan mintak nombor e-ticket at first place. Bukan easier for me tapi easier untuk kau sebab tak payah tolong aku. See, aku dah buruk sangka dalam hati. “Ok  then. Can you please give me Air Niugini Singapore contact number?” Dia bagi. With thanks, aku letak fon.

I turned to Air Niugini Singapore. “I don’t know the flight status. I cannot check for you. It is domestic flight.” Hell again. Jawab macam tengah betulkan mekap. Langsung takde effort nak tanya nombor ticket ataupun flight number. “You can check with your husband.” I asked back “If I can check with hi, why on earth Im calling you?” (Tambah tanda seru dalam nada). “Oh I don’t know, maybe they’re still flying. Jadah benda dah 14jam still flying. Obviously, she never check one for me. Takde langsung effort nak membantu. TAKDE. Like, kalau flight tu hilang pun aku kisah apa. Belum campur lagi nada-nada rude dia tu. I keep myself calm and say thanks. Thanks for being rude you bitch. Marah betul dah tu sebenarnya tapi malas nak tambah oktaf dalam nada. You brought your company identity to worst. Air Niugini Singapore sucks.

Lepas bertenang barang sesaat dua, aku get back to Post Moresby Airport. Dengan berbekalkan keyakinan dan pengetahuan bahawa airport pasti boleh update, aku call. Kali ni lelaki jawab. “Hold on miss, I transfer you to the department.” See how it should be done? If tak tahu as a front line, kau transfer kat yg berkenaan. Aku pun penah keje angkat fon as front line. That is the way. Kedengaran suara garau-lembut dihujung talian. “The flight is safely landed early this morning.” Aku tanya lagi, “can you please confirm?” “Yes. Landed at 4.50 early in the morning.” I say thanks attached with unseen smile. Alhamdulillah takde ucapan lain. He’s arrived.

Later, I check back tru airport website, all husband punya flight dah enroute/landed. Oh, after near to 24h baru update. Takpela aku maafkan kekurangan server kau dan kekurangan adab-adab awal tadi. Yang penting laki aku selamat tiba. Malam baru husband dapat connect wifi and whatsapp me. Yes, 24h later only we get in touch. Yang orang nampak, laki aku buat duit. Tapi kebenarannya, inilah yang aku rasa setiap kali dia overseas. Mampu hantar dengan doa je. Tapi bila semua medium perhubungan terbatas, kat mana nak cari weh. Kat mana. You know how worried I am? From Malaysia, to Singapore, to Philipines, to Papua I search. This is not the power of woman tapi the power of love. Aicewahh.

So, total kredit ku habis is Rm58. Yes yg RM28 tadi tu dah habis, aku topup lagi RM30.

Ha, lepas ni tak payah pegi lagi dah overseas overseas Grrrr.
